The #CEOattitude

I never knew exactly what I wanted to do with my career, but I knew it wouldn’t be boring. In 2015, I was sitting in my dorm room when I saw an ad on Twitter that read, “Do you have what it takes to be a CEO?”

I got the email that changed it all, “Congrats! You’ve made it to the final round of boot camp!” I couldn’t have been more excited to spend five days with people who would soon become some of my closest friends. Although I didn’t get the CEO for One Month internship, I knew that as long as I carried the #CEOattitude, my journey was far from over.

I spent the next week writing forty-five personalized thank-you notes and developing a business plan that I would propose to the Adecco Staffing leadership team. This plan was to act as an ambassador for Adecco to build brand awareness on campus. Like any 19-year-old college student, I was very nervous to present my ideas to the President of a Fortune 500 company, but I followed my dad’s advice and went for it. Like he always says, “There’s a big difference between saying you’ll do something and actually following through. That’s what separates the leaders.”

They accepted my proposal!

Since then, I have built a lasting relationship between the University of Florida and Adecco Staffing. That fall, Adecco attended two career fairs and hosted the 2016 Street Day to promote the Way to Work Program. Other highlights include meeting the 2016 Global CEO for One Month in New York City and attending the 2017 Leadership Summit with over 500 Adecco Staffing colleagues.

After meeting some of the amazing women through the Way to Work program, we decided to launch a Women’s Book Club at the University of Florida. I’ve been lucky enough to connect with incredibly driven women and introduce them to Adecco, all while learning from inspiring authors along the way. Even the Adecco Staffing, USA President, Joyce Rusell has become a great mentor to me!

This past summer, I was fortunate enough to intern in two amazing Adecco markets, South Florida and New York City. I received direct leadership from each of the Regional Vice Presidents and am proud to say that I have accepted a full time position with the Creative and Marketing Specialty team in New York City, post graduation.

My experience as a CEO for One Month finalist was more than I could have imagined, but I was able to sustain my role with Adecco by following one simple rule: Success is about people. I took each networking opportunity as a two-way street. It is important to go beyond the surface to find out what YOU can do to help someone. I’m proud to say that I have networked, collaborated and grown with incredible leaders, all by going that extra mile with my #CEOattitude.
