Our Adecco Operations team has eleven interns joining them this summer. What’s it like to be one of them? Read and see what some of them have learned so far!
Ivana Majerle
John Carroll University
Major: Psychology with an Industrial/Organizational Concentration
“You can typically find me working on various projects for the Field Operations and Talent Development & Colleague Experience teams that are designed to improve the organization, colleagues, and associates. When I am not collaborating with these teams, I am assisting with sourcing and prescreening candidates for the enterprise and staffing recruiters in my branch. The staffing industry is constantly changing so there is always something new to learn about. I have yet to encounter a dull moment!
One thing I’ve enjoyed most about the internship is watching and taking part in the extensive hiring process Adecco uses from beginning to end. It was gratifying to see a candidate I sourced and prescreened be selected for a position. In addition to being very welcoming, the colleagues at Adecco are invested in the growth of the interns and want to see us succeed.”

Major: Supply Chain Management
“My day ranges from checking documents, doing on-site client visits to even organizing fundraising events.
This isn’t like a typical internship where you just sit in a cubicle and stare at a screen for 8 hours. A large part of this internship is having that face-to-face connection with your clients and really building that relationship on a deeper level rather than only on screen.”

Major: Business Management
“This internship emphasizes that you have certain responsibilities you adhere to just like a full-time colleague. The accountability is what differentiates this internship from my previous ones.
I enjoy the work culture here because the co-workers are very cooperative and will provide great assistance. There is an awesome atmosphere to get out of your comfort zone and grow professionally as an individual.
I hope to gain more insight on recruiting in a metropolitan area and how Adecco manages that…I want to continue to build my network and establish relationships that could impact my future.”

Major: Business Management
“When I first come in, I will usually make a cup of coffee to wake up. Then, I update the spreadsheets that keep track of new recruiters and their progress in learning the recruiting process. What I do varies from day-to-day which could include recruiting associates for current openings, listening to weekly conference calls, going to an onsite, etc.
Adecco USA is all over the country, but I love the “one big team” feel every time we talk to someone from Operations in a different state. A highlight has been that I lead a few one-on-one calls with our new recruiters and I’ve been to one of our onsites to tour and get to know the client and their environment.”

Major: Business Administration
“Everyone, even the people I haven’t been able to meet face to face yet, seems to enjoy working for Adecco. You can tell that people have a true passion for what they do here and it is something that is very exciting to be a part of.
The day is usually filled by working on a mixture of smaller tasks and larger, big picture goals. Helping both clients, as well as internal personnel, can give you a window in to all aspects of the recruiting business, from training and development to large, onsite recruiting.
I am expecting to gain hands-on, true office experience. This is my first time working outside of the service industry and in a clerical environment. Ideally, I will be able to work in an environment like this for the rest of my career, so gaining an extensive basis of ground-level knowledge at an early age will be very beneficial to my development as a well-rounded employee over the years.”

“I was immediately attracted to this internship because of the hands-on experience that it offers. I look forward to gaining further knowledge and insight of the industry from first hand professionals. I expect to learn valuable skills and gain useful experience in which I will be able to apply to any future endeavors.
A typical day as an Adecco intern consists of going to team meetings and assisting team members with current projects such as onboarding forms. I enjoy going to the weekly intern huddles where we connect and discuss what we are working on and how we can ensure that we are getting the most valuable experience here. The value of working together as a team has stood out to me tremendously so far.”
Breck Manwaring
Brigham Young University
Major: Business Management with an emphasis in Entrepreneurial Endeavors
“I chose this internship because of their emphasis on character. There were not many prerequisites for this internship like other internships that automatically disqualified me. Because I have been set back two years in schooling due to my mission trip, many internships would have never accepted me, but Adecco saw value in my experience and desire to learn.
I have enjoyed coming up with my own solutions to the needs at hand like creating job description templates to be used to quickly create 12 job descriptions for newly added locations, using new project managing software to increase productivity over lots of excel spreadsheets, or creating online surveys that push all the information to create job descriptions right into our project managing software. I love being a part of the company that is growing weekly, and the goal to take on all job postings for US locations is exciting.”
Chancellor Rose
University of North Texas
Major: Professional Selling (MBA)
“I’m very interested in B2B sales and plan on making a career out of it… Ideally here with Adecco! IT’s very impressive how large Adecco is and the global reach it has. My goal is to gain professional experience outside of my family business and a job offer from Adecco’s National Sales department.
A highlight of this internship is that my intern team nearly doubled the KPI goal’s set for us. I also got to visit a client warehouse and meet a log of great colleagues. Everyone is very friendly, fun to work around and willing to help. I enjoy the professional work ethic.”

“This internship stands out to me because we are provided with so many opportunities to gain hands on experience, and be a direct contact for our candidates. I really enjoy helping people as well as problem solving, so I love that I get to do that for so many candidates and potential employees. Being able to work independently, but still being able to reach out for support when it is needed, is such a valuable part of being an Adecco intern.
One of the biggest highlights is the people I work with. The first half of our day the other recruiters are in the office, which allows us to ask any questions we may have and be on the same page as the rest of the team. Chancellor, the other intern at my office, is also great to work with. In addition, I love being able to help candidates that are desperately in need of work, and help them through the process from start to finish. Although I may not be there during the interview and onboarding process, I have learned the process so that I am able to answer any questions candidates may have.”
Rodney Josue Escobar
California State University
Major: General Marketing
“My career goals are to become an operational manager or supply chain manager at a corporate level. A few highlights throughout my internship experience are project planning, onboarding associates, the colleague experience, and helping associates. The Adecco work culture has been supportive, positive, and engaging through my learning process.”
Sage Tourigny
High Point University
Major: Strategic Communications
“From this internship I am expecting to gain a better knowledge in how companies recruit, what they are looking for in candidates and ways to make their companies successful by the candidates they bring in.
A few highlights so far have been getting to understand how the recruiting process works and how every successful operation has small links that all come together. It’s great to be a part of the overall operation by being a link!
Again, I think it’s helped open my eyes up and truly prepare me for the workforce. College classes don’t always prepare you for how the office and work culture are going to be like. That’s why it’s so important to have an internship during college so once you land that full time position with a company after graduation you are not behind in what to expect and you can feel confident going into the workforce culture.”
