An analysis of each state was recently conducted by Bloomberg Rankings on the focus of several innovation factors, including: the number of STEM workers, research-and-development spending, the percentage of public tech companies, and patent approvals. Based on those and other factors, Washington was named the most innovative state in America.

In today’s technical workforce, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) skills are essential to driving innovation. We understand that one of the most difficult challenges facing companies is the growing shortage of professionals with STEM skills.
For every 1.9 available STEM jobs, there is only one qualified STEM professional available for hire. Making matters worse, STEM career opportunities are expected to increase 17 percent by 2018, well above the 9.8 percent expected job growth for all other skill sets. Thus, the shortage of qualified STEM professionals is only expected to increase.
We understand the importance of STEM education, and therefore support our local markets with programs such as Project Lead the Way (PLTW). By supporting programs like PLTW, we are helping the engineering, scientists, medical professionals and IT experts of tomorrow get their careers off to a solid start today.
We also offer an annual $2,500 Future Engineers Scholarship. Both high school seniors who plan on pursing an engineering degree and current undergraduate engineering students are eligible, and can apply here through April 3, 2014.
At Adecco Engineering & Technology, we use our knowledge and insight to keep businesses ahead of the growing talent shortage, and we use our connections with premier STEM professionals to deliver the innovators our clients are seeking.
